Are you an experienced unqualified teacher with a degree? Our Assessment Only route allows you to demonstrate that you already meet the Teachers’ Standards, without further training.

Entry Requirements
What other criteria do I need to meet?
​To be eligible for our Assessment Only route, you must:
-
be in paid employment as an unqualified teacher, with a school willing to support you through our course
-
have been in employment as an unqualified teacher in at least two settings before your application. This will have involved planning, teaching and assessing whole classes in both schools.

have a minimum of two years’ teaching experience as an unqualified teacher across the age ranges within your chosen age phase.

have an enhanced DBS in place with the school in which you will be assessed​

You must prove, through the interview process, both your suitability to teach and an ability to meet the standards for QTS without the need for any further training.

If you do not meet the entry requirements for the Assessment Only route, please consider one of our primary teacher training courses as an alternative.

Step 1: Initial Enquiry
Complete our Pre-Application Checklist to ensure programme eligibility. Our team will then get in touch to discuss your eligibility, advise on compliance and provide appropriate documentation.
Programme Details
Duration
The Assessment Only process begins once you are registered on the programme and assessment is concluded at the end of a 12 week period, in your current employment school.
Assessment Process
There are two assessment points during the programme:​

Mid-point Assessment involving an observation and mentor meeting. The SCITT will review progress.

Final Assessment will include an observation, interview and presentation demonstrating your evidence of meeting the Teachers’ Standards.
