Before you start an application to Prestolee SCITT, there are a few things for you to consider and prepare.

Check your qualifications

Our entry requirements are: 

  • a class 2:2 degree or above (class 3 considered for QTS Only)

  • a grade 4/C or above in GCSE English, Maths & Science

Choose between our two hubs:

  • Bolton Hub

  • Tameside Hub

Consider your pathway

Have a think about which pathway is right for you:

  • Ages 3-7

  • Ages 5-11

Next Steps

Once you have submitted your application, this will be sent to us for review. A member of the team will be in touch to acknowledge your application and provide you with an estimated time for shortlisting, which is typically within five working days.

 

Once shortlisting has taken place, you will be notified as to whether you have secured an interview with us. For those who are unsuccessful at this stage, you will be provided with feedback.

Our Interview Process

Our interviews take place either online or in-person across a number of our Trust schools. Successfully shortlisted applicants will be offered the next available interview date with our panel, and interviews typically last up to two hours.

 

Interviewees will be notified of the outcome of their interview within two working days.

What to Expect

  • Written task - reflection on a provided piece of current research

  • Online English and Maths task

Pre-Course Checks and Offer Conditions

If you are successful, there are mandatory checks that we complete prior to you starting the course. These checks will form part of your conditional offer to train to teach with us:

​

  • Confirmation that you have the health and physical capacity to start training (occupational health check)

  • An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

  • Receipt of two satisfactory references

  • Provide physical copies of your qualification certificates or a certified statement of results

  • Confirmation of right to work in the UK full-time for the duration of the course

 

Where you have yet to complete a qualification at the time of offer i.e. an equivalency test, satisfactory completion of this qualification will also be a condition of your offer.

Further information about how to complete these pre-course checks will be provided by the SCITT no earlier than three months prior to your start date.
